The simulator has been approved and authorized by the Italian Government to carry out training for navigation officers. The centre is focused on carrying out base and ARPA Radar training, as well as bridge management and ECDIS training. The system allows the centre to train and to certify officers for river, coastal and deep sea shipping. The virtual and realistic environment is distributed on a surface of about 100 sq meters. Specific anti-piracy training, by practicing manoeuvres to avoid pirates boarding and attacks is another task of the centre.
THESI Consulting will be soon equipped with a liquid cargo and engine room simulator to complete the education of officers on board all kind of vessels.
The inauguration has been covered in major newspapers and on local television, as the most modern radar simulator available nowadays in the Italian panorama, within the Mediterranean basin.
